Course Description

This 45-minute class combines history, faith, and STEM design. Students will first learn the traditional story of the Pilgrims and the First Thanksgiving—the Mayflower voyage, the hardships in the New World, and the harvest feast of 1621. Then, they’ll step into a STEM challenge: designing their own mini Mayflower model using paper, cardboard, straws, and other simple supplies. The boat doesn’t need to float—it’s about designing a sturdy and creative model with sails, decks, and unique features. Students will brainstorm, sketch, and build while imagining what it might have been like to travel across the ocean on a small ship. ✝ Faith Tie-In: Just as the Pilgrims trusted God through storms and struggles, we’ll reflect on Psalm 107:1 — “O give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.”
