Kitchen Chemists: The Breakfast Cereal LabGreat class, very informative and my daughter learned a lot in this class. Thank you!
We'd love to hear about times that work for you!
Does your child have strong opinions about Christmas cookies but no idea yet how to prove them? In this two-session debate series, gingerbread, sugar cookies, and snickerdoodles go head to head for the crown. It sounds delightfully silly, and it is. But underneath the sprinkles, students are doing real debate work: researching where a cookie came from, deciding what a "best" cookie even means, building three arguments to support their case, and predicting what the other side will say. Then comes the showdown, with opening statements, evidence, cross-examination, rebuttals, and closing arguments, ending in a class vote on which cookie deserves the crown. A familiar topic means no one starts from zero, and the first session is all preparation, so nobody is asked to speak until they've had time to research and plan. There's room for the researcher, the quick thinker, the one who spots the hole in an argument, and the one who listens before deciding. Open to all ages, with the research and arguments scaling to each student.

Math Missions Live! Problem Solving AdventuresI recommend this class if you want your kids to "play" with math. This is no pressure math. Candice presents the "math mission" at the beginning of class. Then the students work through it in whatever way their brain works. Sometimes it's collaborative and sometimes its individual. She meets every kid where they're at. When my daughter needed a break from the traditional math lessons, this was our go to.

Kitchen Chemists: Oobleck! My daughter loves the whole Kitchen Chemist series. This Oobleck class was so fun. She played with it for days. What I love about Ms Parks is that she encourages the kids to be real scientists by asking questions, forming their own hypothesis and then testing it. She doesn't expect them to just do it exactly like she does. She encourages experimentation.
