Course Description

Students will play the part of a character in a story by reading the character's words reader's theater-style.. As students read their parts, the story will unfold. Class includes four different dramas. We will read as many as time permits: - The Clever Kid - The Crow and the Sparrow - The Blind Men and the Elephant - The Shepherd Boy Who Called Wolf Each story has a moral: The Clever Kid Moral: Have wisdom The Crow and the Sparrow Moral: Have wisdom The Blind Men and the Elephant Moral: We each make mistakes The Shepherd Boy Who Called Wolf Moral: Honesty is the best policy Sample of reading parts to give you an idea of the complexity of the words: WHITE WOLF. Well, we cannot get her. The hill is too steep. GRAY WOLF. We must make her come to us. SPARROW. We must have water! What shall we do? CROW. Ah, I know the way to get the water! THIRD BLIND MAN Both of you are wrong. He is like a snake. FOURTH BLIND MAN Oh, how blind you are! He is round and tall like a tree! BOY. Ha, ha, ha! There is no wolf! MASTER. Boy, boy, you must not joke about a wolf! Do you hear? You must never joke about a wolf! This is meant to be an encouraging class for all students, regardless of individual reading levels. Reading skill comparison will be advised against, and students will be encouraged to have patience and support one another in their efforts to read. We will cheer each other on and have great fun in the process!
