Course Description

Step into a world of imagination in this 3-week hands-on Book Builders class based on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl! This is more than a typical book club. Each week, students will read, discuss, and actively engage with the story through meaningful hands-on builds that connect directly to what we are learning. As we follow Charlie from his simple home into the extraordinary chocolate factory, students will take a closer look at character development, cause and effect, and how choices shape outcomes. We will compare characters, analyze their decisions, and discuss why Charlie stands out from the others. Each class includes: Thoughtful discussion to strengthen comprehension and critical thinking A hands-on build connected to the story A short written response to deepen understanding Students will build Charlie’s home, design a favorite factory room, and create their own chocolate factory, applying both creativity and problem-solving as they connect ideas from the text. This class is a great fit for students who enjoy reading, building, and thinking more deeply about the stories they read.
