In this engaging fast-track summer marine biology course, learners will explore the incredible diversity of life beneath the ocean’s surface while developing a deeper appreciation for the complexity and beauty of the natural world. This class is designed as an accelerated summer format that covers a semester’s worth of marine biology content over 6 weeks. Learners will meet live twice per week with additional independent work time built into the weekly structure. Each week follows this rhythm: - Live Meeting Day 1: Guided reading, teacher instruction, discussion, and science content - Independent Work Day: Learners complete assigned reading, notebooking, journaling, or project work - Live Meeting Day 2: Additional discussion, review, projects, notebooking support, and content extension activities - Independent Work Day: Extra work time for projects, journaling, or coursebook completion At the end of each week, learners will complete a short review quiz and post their completed work in the classroom for accountability and participation. Because this is a fast-track format, students should expect consistent independent work between live classes. This structure allows learners to move through material efficiently while still receiving teacher guidance and classroom interaction throughout the course. A longer 14-week semester version of this class may also be offered during the fall semester for families who prefer a slower-paced option.
